I am Shawn Park, a co-founder of Ego, a UI guru, a K-pop maniac, and a critical narcissist. I love my UI designs, which I call an embodiment of myself, but at the same time I don't hesitate to tear them down. The moment I hate the most is when I scrap my design that I have worked on for weeks, but it eventually becomes the moment I love when it opens up to a whole new world of design. (which might be scrapped some time later to pave way for others.) Aside from design, I spend my time with friends, listening to music and singing, and contemplating.
UI design is my hobby and my passion. As such, I have been making websites for over a decade - outside of class or work - just for fun. In particular, I am the lead web designer for K-pop convention 2013 held at UC Berkeley hosted by K-popular (www.kpopcon.com) and CET 2.0, virtual entrepreneurship center currently being developed by Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology at UC Berkeley. My expertise is in HTML 5, CSS 3, and Javascript. I have also taken various positions in journalism, including a vice president position in Seoul Foreign Language High School Union Newspaper and a founder of an online essay forum Essay Playground.
I am currently in charge of UI design and business strategy for Ego, an internet-based startup started by me and my two other friends in UC Berkeley. In a nutshell, Ego is a personalized news community that allows users to receive and discuss information related to their interests. We started working on Ego with just a scribble in our notebooks because of our sheer pain in keeping up with our interests. After doing some initial work, we started a student-run course (DeCal) in which 10 students collaborated on making Ego. Ego is now a full-fledged web application with most of the features implemented. For more information, please visit http://www.egodecal.com
